Newborn & Baby Photography in Hampstead NW3: Prices & What to Expect

Hampstead is one of my favourite parts of London to photograph in — quiet leafy streets, high-ceilinged flats and period homes with beautiful natural light. Most families here prefer a home newborn session, where I bring everything needed and set up in whichever room has the best window.

Home newborn sessions in NW3

For a home session I arrive with wraps, a portable heater, backdrops and a small posing beanbag. All you need to provide is a warm room and a full baby. Sessions typically run 2–3 hours and include family, sibling and posed newborn images.

Baby photography in Hampstead beyond the newborn stage

Not every family finds me in the first two weeks. Hampstead parents often book baby photography later — at 3–4 months when babies hold their head up and smile on cue, at 6–8 months when they sit unaided, or around the first birthday. These sessions are shorter, around 60–90 minutes, and just as gentle: soft neutral set-ups, lots of play, and a few portraits with parents.

How to prepare your Hampstead home

• Pick the brightest room and turn the heating up to around 24–25°C — warm babies sleep deeply
• Clear a 2m × 2m space near the window; overhead lights stay off so the light stays soft
• Feed baby fully right before I arrive, and keep a spare outfit and dummy nearby
• Parking: most of Hampstead is permit-controlled, so a visitor permit or nearby bay helps me unload quickly

What age is best for newborn photos?

Days 5 to 14 give the sleepiest, most curled-up images. After three weeks babies are more awake, so the session becomes more lifestyle than posed — still lovely, just different.

Do I need a studio?

No. Nearly every Hampstead session happens at home, which means no travelling with a newborn and no packing bags. If you'd prefer a classic studio look, I also work from a warm private space a short drive from NW3.

How far in advance should I book?

Second or third trimester is ideal. Hampstead dates fill quickly in spring and autumn; if baby has already arrived, message me anyway — I keep a couple of flexible slots each week.
