At-Home Newborn Photoshoot in London: What to Expect

An at-home newborn photoshoot brings the complete photography experience to you. There is no studio journey, no pressure to leave on time and no need to pack everything your baby might need. I photograph families in their own homes across North London, creating a mixture of softly posed newborn portraits, natural cuddles and close family photographs using the space and light already available.

How much space does a home photoshoot need?

Less than most parents expect. A small clear area near the brightest window is usually enough for baby-only portraits, and the edge of a bed or a plain wall can work beautifully for parents and siblings. Before I begin, I walk through the rooms with you and choose the lightest, calmest place. A London flat can work just as well as a large house because careful framing removes everyday clutter from view.

A baby-led pace, with time for feeds

Home sessions are intentionally unhurried. A newborn photoshoot may take two to three hours, but photography is only part of that time. The rest allows for feeding, winding, nappy changes and settling. If your baby stays awake, I photograph eye contact and small expressions. If a pose does not feel comfortable for them, we stop and choose another. Your baby's safety and comfort always decide the pace.

How to prepare without making home perfect

Keep one or two neutral outfits ready for the adults, warm the room where baby will be photographed and feed your baby as you normally would. Please do not deep-clean, redecorate or buy props. Everyday objects can be moved temporarily, and I bring the styling pieces we have agreed in advance. If you have an heirloom blanket or another safe, sentimental item, we can include it thoughtfully.
