Newborn Photos: Real Examples From My London Sessions

When parents search for newborn photos, they usually want to know one thing: what will I actually get? So instead of describing it, here are real images from sessions in North London homes, grouped the way I deliver a gallery — posed, details, parents, siblings. Every photo below is from a real family session, edited exactly as they received it.

1. Posed and wrapped newborn photos

These are the images most families picture first: baby curled, wrapped, deeply asleep. They only work well in the first two weeks, and they always come after a full feed. Nothing is forced — if a baby won't settle into a shape, we move on.

2. Detail photos — hands, feet, hair

Details are the photos parents are most surprised by. Newborn hands and feet change within weeks, and these are the frames families tell me they look at most a year later. They are also the easiest to get with an unsettled baby, so I shoot them whenever there is a lull.

3. Newborn photos with mum and dad

Most parents tell me they don't want to be in the photos, and almost all of them end up loving these most. You don't need makeup or an outfit plan — plain neutral tops, bare feet, your own bedroom light. I direct you into simple positions and photograph the in-between moments.

4. Siblings and pets

With older siblings, I photograph them first, in short bursts, with no expectation of stillness. Ten minutes of a toddler's real attention is worth more than an hour of persuasion — and the kiss below happened in about ninety seconds.

Sessions take place in your home anywhere in North London — Hampstead, Golders Green, Finchley, Camden, Mill Hill, Hendon and Colindale — and start from £250. The ideal age is 5 to 14 days, though I photograph older babies and milestones too.
